Football and Sports

Those who know me say that I am crazy. I still play futsal at the age of 50.

Blame it, or rather credit it, to my alma matar, and the friends that I grew up with. We play every day at VI green at 6pm for one hour, even on exam days.

The hostel that we live in is 200m away from Stadium Merdeka. We cannot afford the entrance ticket thus we only get in when the gates opened during second half, for those with tickets to go out.

My housemates in Arizona State are crazy footballers. We play soccer earlier and every day during the between semesters. I do not join them only when I made my visits to Washington State to see my then girlfriend now wife.

The Victorians still hold their annual Mokhtar Dahari challenge. This year, the oldest was from SPM 78 and the youngest only took their SPM last year. I am sure that if the organiser allows, the oldest would be SPM 70, only there are too much risk at stake.

I joined the Gombak Setia team since we got married in 1991 and played with them for 12 years. Many team mates were taking their SPM that year and when I cannot join them anymore due to logistics, these young team mates were waiting for their kids coming home from school.

It has been 10 years I joined AHA Architect for their football session.

My kids and I joined the HSBC futsal almost the same time but they stopped playing about 6 years ago .

We also joined the Taman Dato Senu team for almost three years

Now, I am organising futsal session every friday night at KSL Sports Taman Sri Gombak. It has been two years and I hope that I could afford to do it until some one else takes over.

I am looking forward to the European Cup this June.

Expectations

My kids do not want to talk to me.

If they were to say something, most probably I will say " why choose the easy way out?"

I am talking based on my experience, half a century old. And I have been working for 26 years.

It all boils down to your "worth". You are more valuable if you have skills that not many have. Maybe you call it specialisation, but I call it value. Acquire the skills that not many have. The harder the better.

No, I will not elaborate more as my kids know what I am going to say. Many times they said that I have said so many times that they can recite what my sentences will be. My wife said the same thing. At least I am consistent.
